اردو بَرْد: درجہ حرارت کا گر جانا۔ اسے ’قَرّ‘ اور ’زَمْھَرِیر‘ بھی کہا جاتا ہے۔ بَرْد کی ضد ’حَرٌّ‘ ہے۔ اِبْراد کا معنی ہے: سردی میں داخل ہونا اور گرمی کی شدت کا ختم ہوجانا۔ اَبْرَدَان سے مراد دن کے دونوں اوقات (صبح اور شام) ہیں کیونکہ ان میں ہوا سرد ہو جاتی ہے۔ بَرْد موت اور نیند کے معنی میں بھی آتا ہے۔
