1- مِنْ أَقدمِ مُدُنِ العَالمِ وَأَحْسنِهَا حَيثُ تشتمل على مَعَالِمَ عِدَّةٍ مُهِمَّةٍ، كمسجد جامع بني أمية الكبير ومسجد باب شرقي والمسجد القِبْلي.
2- مِن أَسْمائِها أَيْضًا: مدينة الشام العظمى، وذات العِماد، وباب الكعبة، والفَيْحَاء، وحصن الشام، وفسطاط المسلمين.
3- فتحها المسلمون بقيادة خالد بن الوليد بعد معركة اليرموك.
5- كانت دمشق موطن الآراميين ثم سيطر عليها الروم ثم استولى عليها العباسيون والطولونيون والفاطميون ثم الدولة العثمانية.
6- تَعَرَّضت لِاعْتِداءاتٍ عِدّة، مِنْهَا اعْتِداءُ المَغولِ والفرنسيين وَغيرهِمْ.
7- توفي بدمشق عدد من الصحابة والتابعين، وتخرج فيها العديد من العلماء والحفاظ.
English 1. One of the most beautiful and oldest cities in the world. It has many important landmarks like the Great Mosque of Damascus (the Umayyad Mosque), Al-Baab ash-Sharqi Mosque, and Al-Qibli Mosque.
